Archie Griffin Pay Homage

December 3, 1974. Ohio State running back Archie Griffin stood on stage and made history, becoming the first sophomore ever to win the Heisman Trophy. One year later, he returned to that same stage and did something no one else has done before or since: he won it again. Archie Griffin is the only two-time Heisman Trophy winner in college football history, and fifty years later, that record still stands. Over four seasons at Ohio State, he rushed for 5,589 yards and recorded 31 consecutive 100-yard games, a streak that remains an NCAA record. He started in four Rose Bowls, the only player ever to do so, and led the Buckeyes to a 40-5-1 record and four Big Ten championships. But Griffin has never framed his success as an individual achievement. "I have always looked at the Heisman Trophy as a team honor," he said. "I was surrounded by great teammates, and that made all the difference."
